There are several large car hire companies based inside the terminal buildings at Malaga airport. There are also several other car rental companies just a short walk from the airport. Many of the companies offer free transport to the depot to collect your car and you can return your car to the airport on your departure. All prices usually include insurance but not petrol or insurance excess.

Although not advisable, if you arrive at Malaga Airport without a reservation for a hire car, do not accept the first offer as you arrive through the arrivals gate. It is at this point that you will be confronted by a line of men waving boards at you and peddling car hire.

You are advised to shop around in the airport and check out the prices before signing a car rental agreement.

The minibuses to the car hire companies are located right outside the arrivals hall. The drive to most of the car hire depots is just a few minutes.

When you return your car you will drop it off at the depot and their minibus will take you to the departures at the airport. Allow 30-45 minutes for this.

When you colelct a hired car at Malaga Airport make sure you check the condition of the car before driving away. The hire company will present you with an agreement on which any damage is noted. If you feel wary about any damage that already exists then take a photograph of the car (showing the damage), with the car centreor the representative in the background. This will solve any arguments when you return the car.

Do not always go for the cheapest car hire in Malaga Airport. Examine the service you will receive and make sure they speak your language. Make sure you get a 24 hour emergency telephone number for them.
